Show Yorkshires don\u2019t always run around with their long tresses flowing behind them. Instead, their hair is wrapped up so it doesn\u2019t get dirty, tangled, o<\/a>r broken. It\u2019s a peculiar look, and more work than you\u2019ll want to go through unless you want a show coat, but here\u2019s how you do it.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll need a box of either doughnut paper, wax paper, or rice paper, and a package of tiny latex bands. The doughnut paper is easiest to use, and you can get it at bulk-buy stores. It\u2019s not as long as rice paper, which is needed for drag-on-the-floor-length coats.<\/p>\n

1. Divide the coat into small sections, each about an inch or so. Place a latex band in each section about an inch from the skin. Make sure your dog can move without the banded hair pulling on the skin.<\/li>\n
2. Fold your papers into thirds lengthwise, with the waxed part on the outside, facing away from the coat. You may wish to cut off or fold under any serrated edges first, as these can cut the coat.<\/li>\n
3. Place one coat section in the middle third section of one paper.<\/li>\n
4. Fold each side of the paper over the coat section.<\/li>\n
5. Fold the paper with hair inside upon itself two to three times, so it\u2019s close to the body.<\/li>\n
6. Place a latex band around the middle of the paper to secure it, making sure the band isn\u2019t on the hair.<\/li>\n
7. Using scissors, carefully snip out the first latex band you put in.<\/li>\n
8. Move on to the next section.<\/li>\n
9. Check every day to make sure the wraps aren\u2019t pulling, or that mats aren\u2019t forming beneath them.<\/li>\n
