1. Place a nonskid pad or towel in the bottom of your sink.<\/a><\/li>\n
2. Mix up a solution of shampoo and water. It will go a lot further that way.<\/li>\n
3. Adjust the water temperature so it would be comfortable for you to bathe in, or just a little cooler. Keep checking it throughout.<\/li>\n
4. If possible, use a hand-held sprayer.<\/li>\n
5. Carefully place your Dachshund in the sink, always holding him so he can\u2019t jump out.<\/li>\n
6. Wet him down, starting behind his ears. Save his face for last.<\/li>\n
7. Tip: To prevent your Dachshund from doing a wet-dog shake, keep one hand around one ear.<\/li>\n
8. Pour or sponge the shampoo mixture onto him.<\/li>\n
9. Work shampoo into a lather.<\/li>\n
10. Rinse thoroughly, starting at the front and top and working toward the rear and bottom.<\/li>\n
11. Apply a small amount of creme rinse on smooth and long coats, but not wire coats.<\/li>\n
12. Rinse again.<\/li>\n
13. Carefully place him on the floor and let him shake.<\/li>\n
14. As soon as you let him go, he\u2019ll start running and rolling, so be careful where you want him!<\/li>\n
15. Towel-dry him as much possible.<\/li>\n
16. On cold days, use a blow dryer to accelerate drying. This will take some practice, but most Dachshunds will enjoy the feel of warm (not hot) air on their bodies.<\/li>\n
